I love to paint many natural subjects, including landscapes, riverbeds, wildlife and portraits.  I studied Art and Illustration at Brigham Young University where I received a bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1997, and then a MA in Education from Argosy University Seattle in 2005.

My art style is realistic, but I enjoy working on large canvases and employing more loose brushwork or using the pallet knife. Rivers, shorelines, and ocean waves are a subject that I come back to a lot. Water is captivating, and I also enjoy the interesting shapes, colors and textures of rocks, and the compositions that are created in natural environments.

My career is in website development (and I run the BGAA website here).  Over the past 30 years or so, I've worked in website development and started my own business in 2007. I've been in the BGAA for over a decade, and have served on the board a few times.  I taught at the Art Institute of Portland for over 15 years, both in their web design program and also drawing and painting courses. I try to work on my art as much as possible, and lately have been doing more Plein Air work which is really fun and challenging.

I have a beautiful wife and family.. our 5 kids (4 boys and a girl) are mostly grown up now so we're looking ahead at a new phase of life!
