Connie Ford is a newly elected Co-Vice President of Battle Ground Art Alliance with Richard Britschgi. Richard and Connie have been collaborating on art projects for the last few years and now they are taking that collaboration to a new level. Connie has been a member of Battle Ground Art Alliance since 2009. She served as Membership Chair and Publicity Chair. Currently, she is the Small Events Chair, a role she inherited from the developer of that event, Jane Poole, who passed the torch to her several years ago.
When Connie retired from education after teaching 5th-6th grades and being the principal of two elementary schools, she redefined herself as an artist. BGAA is a perfect setting to continue her love of teaching by providing classes for members.
As a fiber artist, Connie’s primary focus is basketry. She enjoys using natural and harvested materials from the Pacific Northwest Coastal regions, her yard, and anything that bends enough to be woven. A favorite project is weaving on the rocks that Richard provides after they have been in the polisher for five weeks. She also makes felted wool projects and brooms. If it is fiber, it just may find its way into one of her art projects.
In her new role for Battle Ground Art Alliance, Connie looks forward to being a team member on the BGAA Board. She envisions a strong art organization where members are valued and supported while having fun and building relationships. Together, BGAA can learn and grow!!
